Termite Exterminator

Termites cause more damage in Florida than any other wood-destroying pests, and Florida has more different types of termites than any other state.

Subterranean termites tend to cause the most damage to homes and commercial buildings, and subterranean termite infestations have been increasing in recent years. They form large colonies near wood food sources. The colonies will move through mud tubes above-ground to enter into buildings to feed on wooden structures. Florida is also home to Drywood and Dampwood Termites which colonize directly inside wooden structures and Dampwood termites especially prefer to enter wooden structures that are in contact with soil.

Termite Inspections

Termite infestation and damage are often invisible to the untrained eye. Your home or business may have existing infestation and damage that you are not aware of. Sometimes owners will see sawdust or shredded paper material in crawlspaces or garages, but often there will not be apparent visual evidence of an infestation. Termite damage can be costly to repair, and the longer it goes without remediation, the higher the eventual cost of repair. We will thoroughly inspect your property to determine if you have any existing issues as well as identify areas that can provide access into your interior structures.

Termite Treatment

Effective control involves the extermination of any existing colonies and preventing future infestation. In the event of a current infestation, structural repairs and remediation may also be needed.

They thrive in moist conditions, and adequate drainage and water control are essential in preventative control and keeping food sources out of contact with soil. Professional and responsible use of pesticides can effectively kill existing colonies inside or near wooden structures. Prevention treatments can include chemical treatments of soil and wooden structures near building foundations. Professional baiting and monitoring systems can poison them before they establish colonies near your buildings and provide valuable feedback about the effectiveness of an established control plan.

Pre-Treatment Termite Control for New Construction

Modern residential and commercial construction includes techniques for termite control integrated into a building's original structure. Soil treatments can be made underneath a new building's foundation before concrete is pored. Areas where construction requires contact between wood and soil and pipe beddings receive a different and more thorough application. Other construction design components include installing barriers that entirely prevent contact between wooden structures and the soil where they might gain access. Different concrete, sheet metals, and plastics can be used as barriers in various applications.

Termite Letters and Real Estate Reports

Mortgage lenders require a Wood Destroying Organism (WDO) report or what is commonly called a "Termite Letter." Even when a WDO report is not required by law, it can be essential to a buyer's protection when considering a real estate purchase of any home or commercial building. If a seller or seller's agent provides a WDO report before closing, a buyer still has the right to have an independent inspection and WDO report.

A WDO report should contain the nature of the inspection performed and detail evidence of termite or other wood-destroying insect infestation or damage. The WDO should be performed by a licensed pest control professional with experience in inspections and reporting.
